Runewords vary on their suitability for different classes and specs, as well as utility for the various Mercenaries. There aren't any great alternatives among Helm Runewords until level 51 at the earliest. This will carry you through midgame before better options become more readily available. Honestly, the only bad thing to say about this helm is that it has a limited lifespan, but you also may find yourself remaking this many times as you level into more protective hats. With easy-to-acquire Runes and some other nice features, it's a great helm that you may find yourself re-making in a higher-level hat as you level higher.
Lore is one of the earliest and easiest Runewords, and it's a popular leveling Runeword for its +1 to All Skills trait.
